Writing Our Family Phone Numbers
Here's What To Do
1
Hand your child a piece of paper and something to write with.
2
Tell your child they will be writing the phone numbers of people in the family.
3
Say, “let’s write my phone number first!” Start by saying single digits for your child to write.
4
Repeat with the phone numbers of other family members.

Put PEER Into Action
P
Pause:
- Invite your child to wiggle their fingers as you get ready to write and take three deep breaths.
E
Engage:
- “Let’s try writing our family phone numbers.”
- “Now write the number 14, what two numbers make up the number 14? Yes, a 1 and a 4.”
E
Encourage:
- “I like how you wrote the number ____.”
- If your child has trouble remembering how to write two digit numbers, tell your child what two numbers make up the number. For example, “Let's write the number 15. Hmmm, the number 15 has a 1 and a 5, can you write 1 and then a 5 next to each other?”
R
Reflect:
- “Was it hard to write the bigger numbers?”
Not quite ready?
Focus on writing numbers 0-15.
Ready for more?
Focus on writing numbers 20+.

As your child masters this skill...
They will be able to confidently write the numbers 0-20.
