Here's What To Do
Share pictures of family members and other important people with me (like: parents, siblings, teachers, caregivers, etc.). They can be printed or on a phone.
Ask me to say the names of family members as I see them.
See if I can share what each person's role is (i.e. "sister" or "babysitter")
(Optional) Make a printed photo book with pictures of my important people. Print out photos and tape them to cardboard, punch holes in the pages, and tie it with string. Share it with me often.

Put PEER Into Action
Pause:
- Make funny faces with me.
Engage:
- "Which picture is Zuri? Where's Daddy?"
- "Who's in this picture?"
Encourage:
- Show me how the same person looks in different pictures. Like: "Look, here's Abuelo. And look, this is Abuelo too!"
- If you don't see family members often, talk about them while showing me pictures of them. Over time, I'll begin to recognize their faces and learn their names.
Reflect:
- Do I seem to recognize pictures of other family members?
Not quite ready?
Notice if I seem to recognize familiar adults in real life and in photos
Ready for more?
Show me pictures of extended family members (aunts/uncles, cousins, etc.) and help me learn their names and family roles.

As your child masters this skill...
They will recognize family members and other important people in photos, and be able to describe their roles.
