Silly Squealing

Here's What To Do

1

Try some silly games to see if you can get me to squeal with delight. I'll make a sudden burst of high pitched vowel sounds like "eeee!" to let you know that I'm happy.

2

Games to try:

  • "I'm Gonna Get You!"
  • Making funny faces at me.
  • Holding me up in the air while you talk to me.
  • Blow raspberries on my skin.
  • Rub the top of your head on my tummy.

Put PEER Into Action

P

Pause:

  • Give me a big kiss before we begin.
E

Engage:

  • Wiggle your fingers towards my belly and say, "I'm gonna get you!"
  • "Here come the raspberries… (blow a raspberry) Ooh! Here they come again!"
E

Encourage:

  • Pause frequently during our games to watch for my reaction. If I seem upset or overstimulated, change to a different game.
  • Throughout the day, listen for my squealing sounds. Notice what is so exciting to me!
R

Reflect:

  • What activities do I like the most?

Not quite ready?

Keep trying different games with me until we find one that I love.

Ready for more?

Notice all the facial expressions I make. Am I beginning to tell you when I'm happy, mad, sad, or surprised?
