Move Around
Here's What To Do
1
Tell your child that you will move around in different ways.
2
Move around the space together and vary the movements as you go along.
3
For example, hop, wiggle, dance, twist, skip, and twirl as you move around.
4
Encourage your child to say or show other ways they want to move and try them out together as you travel.

E
Encourage:
- Include simple, familiar movements and continue them for a longer time.
- Provide a warning and demonstrate the new movement before changing the movement.
R
Reflect:
- “How did you feel when we were moving around in so many different ways?”
Not quite ready?
Practice 2-3 movements with your child before using them as you travel around.
Ready for more?
Include more challenging movements like pausing in different postures, or moving quickly and slowly with more control.

As your child masters this skill...
They’ll explore their environment using different movements and body postures.
