Invite your child and other family members to join you as you have a dance party together.

Play music with different rhythms and tempos while you all dance any way you’d like.

Your child and other family members can also suggest music they’d like to hear.

  • Do some stretches that your child suggests together.

Engage:

  • “Let’s have a dance party and dance to different kinds of music.”
  • “You can dance any way you feel like as the music changes.”

Encourage:

  • Encourage your child to think about how the music sounds and makes them feel as they dance.
  • Have fun dancing together! When they see you and other family members having fun dancing to the music, they are more likely to join in. They can also suggest other types of music they prefer.

  • “How did you feel when we played ___ music? How did you dance?”
