Interview Questions
Here's What To Do
Talk with your child about someone they want to interview and learn more about. This could be a neighbor, familiar community helper, or family member.
Help your child to think of some interview questions they want to ask this person based on the person’s interests, career or other related topics.
You can help your child to write the questions. Encourage scribble writing, drawing and writing letters to represent some sounds they hear.
Then, as needed, help your child to remember and ask the questions when they interview the person. They can add their answers to their paper.

Put PEER Into Action
Pause:
- Take a quiet moment together and help your child to select a person they would like to interview.
Engage:
- Talk together about a person your child would like to learn more about, and what they’d like to find out.
- “What questions could we ask ____ to help us find out about them?”
Encourage:
- Suggest some questions your child can ask this person.
- “You said you wanted to learn about ___, so you could ask, “Why do you ___?”
Reflect:
- “What did you find out from your interview?”
Not quite ready?
Help your child to brainstorm some simple interview questions together.
Ready for more?
With your child, do some research about the person’s background or job first to help them come up with more complex questions.

As your child masters this skill...
They will ask complex questions.
