Guess My Animal Moves
Here's What To Do
1
Tell your child that you will play a movement guessing game.
2
You’ll take turns using different moves to imitate an animal. The other person will do the movements too while they guess what animal it is.
3
Encourage your child to move at different speeds to imitate the animals as well. For example, move slowly and carefully like a sloth, or pretend to run fast like a cheetah.

Put PEER Into Action
P
Pause:
- Do some fun animal movements together as a warm up. Stretch up to the sky like a tall giraffe, or pretend to be a bird flapping its wings.
E
Engage:
- “Let’s play an animal guessing game. We’ll take turns pretending to be different animals. The other person has to guess and do the moves too.”
- “Let’s think of some animals we might pretend to be. How do they move?”
E
Encourage:
- Imitate familiar animals and include sounds.
- The person leading can provide hints and clues. They can also provide two choices to help the other person guess. “Am I pretending to be a lion or a monkey?”
R
Reflect:
- “Which animal was your favorite to imitate?”
Not quite ready?
Instead of having a guessing game, brainstorm ways to move like familiar animals. Then, move like the animals together.
Ready for more?
Instead of just imitating animals, include other objects such as vehicles, or familiar people.
