From Here to There
Here's What To Do
1
Tell your child that you will take turns coming up with creative ways to move from one point in the room to another.
2
Change the movements and the speed of the movements. For example, move slowly on your tiptoes, hop around like a kangaroo, then crouch or crawl along.
3
Include interesting ways to move around, over, on, or under furniture or objects.
4
Take turns leading the game while the other follows.

Put PEER Into Action
P
Pause:
- Do some simple stretches together first to warm up.
E
Engage:
- “Let’s think of fun ways to move around this space and try them out.”
- “Tell me or show me some new ways we can move from here to there.”
E
Encourage:
- Include simple, familiar movements and continue them for a longer time.
- Provide a warning and demonstrate the new movement before changing the movement.
R
Reflect:
- “What move should we try the next time we play?”
Not quite ready?
Practice 2-3 movements with your child before using them as you move from one place to another.
Ready for more?
Have a mini competition with your child to come up with the most creative way to get from one place to another. Include furniture or objects to move around, under, on or over.

As your child masters this skill...
They’ll move their body with more balance and coordination.
