Fast Freeze, Slow Freeze

Here's What To Do

1

Tell your child that you will play a game where you will move fast or slow, and then freeze. Then, you’ll start moving again.

2

“I’ll say “dance fast or dance slow.” Then, I’ll say “freeze” and you have to freeze and stop until I say “go.””

3

Take turns leading the game.

Put PEER Into Action

P

Pause:

  • Do some simple stretches together first to warm up.
E

Engage:

  • “Show me how we could move if we are dancing slowly. What about if we dance really fast?”
  • “What do we look like when we freeze or stop?”
E

Encourage:

  • Warn your child before you call out “freeze.”
  • Model how to move quickly or slowly, before encouraging them to join you.
R

Reflect:

  • “Did you prefer to move quickly or slowly? Why did you like to move ___?”

Not quite ready?

Practice moving either quickly or slowly, instead of doing both during the same game.

Ready for more?
