Fast Freeze, Slow Freeze
Here's What To Do
1
Tell your child that you will play a game where you will move fast or slow, and then freeze. Then, you’ll start moving again.
2
“I’ll say “dance fast or dance slow.” Then, I’ll say “freeze” and you have to freeze and stop until I say “go.””
3
Take turns leading the game.

Put PEER Into Action
P
Pause:
- Do some simple stretches together first to warm up.
E
Engage:
- “Show me how we could move if we are dancing slowly. What about if we dance really fast?”
- “What do we look like when we freeze or stop?”
E
Encourage:
- Warn your child before you call out “freeze.”
- Model how to move quickly or slowly, before encouraging them to join you.
R
Reflect:
- “Did you prefer to move quickly or slowly? Why did you like to move ___?”
Not quite ready?
Practice moving either quickly or slowly, instead of doing both during the same game.
Ready for more?
Encourage your child to try more challenging movements while they move to different tempos of music.

As your child masters this skill...
They’ll demonstrate how to explore different movements at different speeds.
