Your child can help you to prepare for, and do simple chores.

Ask them to help you think about and collect the things you’ll need for different chores.

For example, they can get the materials needed to:

  • Set the table
  • Do the laundry (collect the clothes)
  • Help in the garden

Pause:

  • Smile at each other and think of ways to make the chore or task fun e.g. play your favorite songs.

Engage:

  • “Can you please help me get the things I need to do the laundry?”
  • “What are some of the things we will need?”

Encourage:

  • Talk together about the materials needed and where to find them.
  • Then, ask your child to get them. Or, collect them together.

Reflect:

  • “You were so helpful! How did it feel to help me?”
