Use these activities to learn with your child every day!

Language & Literacy

Character Portrait

BRING BACK
  1. Ask your child to think of a favorite book character.
  2. Read a book with that character in it.
  3. Have your child draw or paint a portrait of the character, with a setting from the book in the background.
  4. Ask your child to describe their character portrait, and to explain why they drew the character and the background that way.

Math

Marching to 10

  1. Invite your child to march with you as you count to 10 together.
  2. Show your child how to march and march around a few times together.
  3. Now march and count each step with your child until you count to 10.
  4. Invite your child to lead the counting.

Physical

We’re Stuck

  1. Tell your child that you will play a game where you will pretend to be stuck in different locations.
  2. “We’ll pose and hold still to act it out.”
  3. Suggest different scenarios, such as pretending to be under a table, stuck in a small box, stuck to sticky chewing gum as you try to walk, and stuck with your hands in the air.
  4. Take turns with your child to lead the game and suggest different scenarios.
