Head Start Homework
This Week
Use these activities to learn with your child every day!
Language & Literacy
Talking Turns
- Have your child or children work together to find or create an object to wear or hold when it’s someone’s turn to speak.
- After an activity like sharing a meal, watching a movie, or visiting the park, ask everyone in attendance to share their favorite part of the experience while they are wearing or holding the speaking object.
- Remind everyone to only speak when they are wearing or holding the speaking object.
- Ask follow up questions so children can practice waiting for their turn again.
Math
Days of the Week Caterpillar
BRING BACK
- On a large sheet of paper, draw a caterpillar with eight connected circles.
- Have your child draw a smiley face in the first circle for the caterpillar’s face and add little lines under each circle for its legs.
- Write each day of the week in order in the remaining 7 circles. (optional: your child can write the first letter of each day). Have your child color in the caterpillar.
- Use this drawing to practice saying the days of the week. Hang the caterpillar up, and point out the day of the week each morning.
Social Studies
