Use these activities to learn with your child every day!

Language & Literacy

Write A How-To Book

BRING BACK
  1. Make a mini book with 4 pages. Staple it together.
  2. Ask your child to think of a daily task they know how to do well, like washing their hands or taking a bath. Ask them to explain how they perform this task in 3-4 steps.
  3. Write their words down, one step on each page. Ask your child to draw a picture to represent each step.
  4. Read your child's how-to book together.

Math

I Spy Shopping

  1. In a store, ask your child to play a game of "I Spy" to help you find items on the shelves.
  2. When you see an item on your shopping list, give your child hints to help them find it on the shelves. Use a positional word like: above/below, in front/behind, between, next to, inside/outside, over/under, near/far, up/down
  3. If possible, ask your child to grab the item off the shelf and place it into your cart.
  4. Repeat!

Listening Game

  1. Tell your child you're going to play a listening game.
  2. Give your child a series of 2-step directions. Some examples:
    • Clap your hands, stomp your feet
    • Touch your head, touch your toes
  3. Invite your child to give you 2-step directions to follow.
