Signs of Affirmation
Here's What To Do

Together with your child, brainstorm an affirmation to repeat each day. An affirmation is a short, positive phrase. Examples:
- I have a big heart.
- I am loved.
- I am an amazing person.
- I love to learn!
- I have great ideas.
- (whatever makes sense for your child, search the internet for "positive affirmations for kids" if you need more inspiration)

Write the phrase on paper. Ask your child to decorate the sign.

Hang the affirmation somewhere they will see it during their morning or evening routine (bathroom mirror, near their bed, etc.).

Every day, guide them to look at the sign and say the affirmation out loud.

- Connect by doing three deep breaths together.

Engage:
- "Something I love about you is how you are so kind and helpful. Would it make you feel good to say 'I have a big heart' every morning when you wake up?"
- "We're going to hang this sign up. How would you like to decorate the words?"

Encourage:
- "Are there any things that you're still learning to be good at? Do you think an affirmation sign would help you feel like you could learn them?"
- "We're going to say this affirmation every day to make extra sure that you believe the nice things you're saying about yourself."
