Week 42

Head Start Homework

June 8th, 2026 - June 14th, 2026

Use these activities to learn with your child every day!

Language & Literacy

Match and Model Letters

  1. Select a place with a flat surface. Set out modeling clay, play dough, or air-dry clay (see Homemade Play Dough Recipe attachment if you'd like to make your own).
  2. Write an uppercase letter on a piece of paper.
  3. Show your child how to match the shape of the letter with clay. (Try rolling the clay between your hands to create thin 'snakes,' then cut and shape these to make a letter.)
  4. Keep making different letters. Can you spell your child's name with clay?

Math

Counting While We Shop

  1. When shopping, choose a section of an aisle and ask your child to count a number of items on different shelves (challenge them to count up to 10 if possible).
  2. For items you're purchasing, ask your child to tell you how many you're putting in your cart or basket. If the amount is 4 or under, challenge them to tell you the amount without pointing and counting.
  3. Repeat as you move throughout the store.
