Week 35

Head Start Homework

April 20th, 2026 - April 26th, 2026

Use these activities to learn with your child every day!

Language & Literacy

Our Family Names

  1. Ask your child to choose types of drawing and coloring materials for this activity; some examples include crayons, markers, color pencils, or paint.
  2. Ask your child to create a portrait of each person in your immediate family; depending on family size, this part of the activity can be completed in stages.
  3. Under each family member’s portrait, use a pencil to write the family member’s name in uppercase letters. Say the names and sounds of each letter together.
  4. Have your child practice writing each family member’s name.

Math

More Fruit, Less Fruit

  1. Place two groups of food in front of your child. For example, one pile with 4 grapes and another with 6 grapes.
  2. Ask your child to compare by saying, “Can you tell which group has more? Which has less? How do you know?”
  3. Check the answer together by saying, “Let’s count together and see how much is in each group.”
  4. Repeat. Make sure to sometimes include groups that are the same.
